With just a few days left before the world’s top women’s football team travels to Finland, the fourth IFAF Women’s American Rules Championship will be held here. The town of Vantaa will have a large number of football fans, so all matches held at Myymaki Stadium will be filled with cheers.
During the competition, teams will compete for medals and world ranking points in three competitions. Each “matchday” will consist of four races on July 7, August 30, and August 8. The first round schedule is set between the first seed and the eighth seed, the second seed against the seventh seed, the third seed against the sixth seed and the fourth seed against the fifth seed. The results of these matches will determine the second round.
The Outlook for the UK
Mexico will be an opponent of the Lions of Great Britain in the opening match of the 2022 IFAF Women’s American Football Championship. Despite losing earlier matches, they are determined to take revenge this time. In conversations with some of the team’s players, coach Chris Stone was optimistic about the team’s chances in the game. “I came into Finland with confidence,” he says. With each training camp, as we get closer to the tournament, we see players develop personally, build relationships as teammates and, overall, continue to improve the intensity level. As a collective, we know how much effort and sacrifice has been put into this, and we are really happy to finally show the world what we have been trying to achieve. ”
With Antoinette Morgan and Ruth Matta, the Lions will have Thunderbolt in the backcourt. After winning another national championship in the United States with the Boston Renegades, Matta is eager to rejoin her GB teammates. She added, “I’m very excited about the world that’s coming. In previous games we always fell short and didn’t really reach our potential, which was really frustrating. A lot has changed since our last appearance, so, with all this, we hope this is when we show how great Team GB is. ”
In addition to enjoying the opportunity to introduce herself to opponents, Morgan is looking forward to meeting her defender at the 2022 IFAF Women’s American Rules Championship. “It’s always a privilege to be selected for GB and compete with so many amazing athletes. Since the first 11 friendly matches against Sweden, I was lucky enough to be involved in the program in 2014. Since then, the team’s capacity has grown exponentially and I’m excited to see what we can bring to the world stage. For this season, we have seen an influx of new, talented players and coaches who have helped further develop and shape the team’s football IQ level. We push and challenge each other to bring out the best in every practice and I can’t wait to see how our hard work translates into the scene in Finland.” ”
The Hosts
In anticipation of the 2022 IFAF Women’s American Football Championship, hosts Finland will suspend their national season. Head coach Mika Eloranta prepared the team in a pragmatic and positive way, believing that the match was a great opportunity for his players. Last month, the roster of 60 people was announced, from which they will form the final team. The final roster of 45 players was selected at the end of last month’s training camp. The team’s 15 players have been announced, so they are improving step by step. Unfortunately, some players were injured along the way, but that’s the nature of the game. In Finland, we have one round left before the tournament break, so hopefully all the selected players will be fit. Overall, Team Finland has a great team and they will be ready for the game. The best thing Finland can do is win medals, even if their ultimate goal is to win all competitions. They want their football family to grow throughout the game and everyone to enjoy the game.
The Favorites
In the gold medal competition, there is no denying that both North American teams are favourites to win the championship. They will have a hard time overcoming all the experience they bring. One of the best examples is Canada, which will compete in its fourth World Championship with a player who has competed in two World Championships. Defensive guard Trina Graves retains the enthusiasm of her youth, despite being a veteran. “As the 4th World Finals, the opportunity to compete again still feels a bit surreal, but try to continue to prepare mentally and physically for July to be able to represent the red and white team and the wonderful woman I play in addition to doing my best. I can’t wait to head into the big week before training, planning, adjusting and essentially building the Canadian team. ”
Conclusion
As the players are on their way to the stadium, millions of spectators around the world will be given their favorite snacks and drinks, keep track of the game schedule, and pull up their couches as they wait for the game to start. We were informed that all matches will be broadcast live. The IFAF 2022 Women’s World Championship is one you don’t want to miss.
